Pastor Ed's Bio

Pastor Ed Roman & his wife, Diana

Pastor Ed was born January 16th, 1960; is a family man; married since March 13th, 1981 with three grown children. When the opportunity presents itself, he enjoys day trips with his wife, playing golf, and performing Do-it-Yourself home improvement projects. He considers himself regular folk with a sense of humor and relates well with others.

His experience as a Baptist pastor has been continual for over thirteen years starting in 1996 at the same church as a bi-vocational pastor. Previous Christian experience has been as a VBS Director, Adult Sunday School teacher, and pulpit supply prior to becoming the senior pastor. He received his license to preach in 1996 and was ordained as Minister of the Gospel in January 1997. Currently he is enrolled in the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary with an expected graduation date of May 2010 completing his Master of Divinity Degree in Pastoral Studies. Completion of studies will be accomplished utilizing approved online services. Throughout his pastoral experiences and in his secular work career he has demonstrated strong leadership and communication skills. He is an advocate of strong Christian Families and pre-marital counseling. He has also participated in local revivals each year since 2003. His Denominational Christian Service includes being elected Secretary of the Nominating Committee in the Baptist State Association (2009 & 2010); Vice-Moderator (2002) & Moderator (2003 & 2004), a Personnel/Finance Committee member (1997 to present); and Discipleship Committee Chair (1998 to present). But, one of the more important examples of Pastor Ed’s pastoral and leadership skills was  that of taking his former small church on the verge of closing its doors to one of growth in the form of membership and building improvements over his tenure.

Philosophy of Ministry (in his own words)
My role as a pastor is to lead the church in a direction of purpose by doing two things. First, I must be true to the Word of God. The most important thing for me to do is spend time with God; in prayer and in His Word. These are His people and this is His church. He has the plan and He has given us His Spirit to guide and direct us.
Secondly, we must develop people to spiritual health; the church grows as we develop staff and lay people. Each and every church must be healthy in worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry and evangelism in order to grow. We, as the church, must be intentional about our spiritual growth because growth rarely happens by accident. Jesus often referred to himself as the Son of Man, because that was his passion and purpose, and since he is our example should we be any different?
